Rooney Law, P.C.
Fees
You should know what legal work will cost before it starts.
Most firms answer the fee question with an hourly rate and a retainer, which tells a client almost nothing about what a matter will actually cost. Rooney Law prices work up front wherever the scope allows it, so a board, manager, property or business owner can make a decision with a number in hand.
Three arrangements
Matched to the shape of the work.
Flat fee, per matter
For work with a definable scope: an amendment, a lease, a formation, a collection action, a closing. One price, agreed in writing before the work begins.
Ongoing counsel
A recurring arrangement for associations that want a continuing relationship: routine questions, board meeting support, and document review, at a predictable monthly cost.
Hourly
Where the scope genuinely cannot be known at the outset, most often in contested litigation. Billed in detail, with an estimate and regular updates on where the matter stands.
Getting a number
How a quote happens
- 1
A conversation, no charge
Twenty minutes on the phone about what you are dealing with and what you need to happen.
- 2
A written scope and fee
What the work covers, what it does not, what it costs, and how it is billed. You see all of it on paper before you commit.
- 3
Work begins
If the scope changes materially, you hear about it and agree the change before the work is done, not on an invoice afterwards.
Ask what your matter would cost.
Describe the work and you will get a scope and a fee, or a straight answer that it is the kind of matter that has to be hourly.
